PRE-WALK INFO: (If supplied) Walk leader's description of start point/general information about route.
I hope my walk from Sleights will reach Grosmont by lunchtime, when there will be an hour long break
to enable you to see some of the World War Two events.
At Grosmont station on platform 2 the NAAFI will be serving meals and refreshments, while on platform 3
at midday "Jive Mood” will be performing live.
In the ticket office there will be a working display of military radio equipment.
In Grosmont car park there will be an RAF Battle of Britain MK2 Spitfire, a replica hut as used by
RAF Battle of Britain Fighter pilots awaiting Scramble, and an RAF plotting room.
There are many more sights to see, more than I’ve space to describe here.
If you would like to know more, go to the Pickering 1940s Wartime Weekend 2017 website and click
on Grosmont Station War Weekend Events and scroll down to Sunday.
