PRE-WALK INFO: (If supplied) Walk leader's description of start point/general information about route.

Just a quick reminder that it is our 6 mile walk from Oldstead on Wednesday. I recommend allowing about 1 hour 15 minutes at least to drive there from Scarborough, the last couple of miles are very narrow roads. We went via Wass and Byland Abbey.
I have obtained permission for us to park in the car park of the Black Swan as parking is very limited in the village.
We intend having a break at Byland Abbey (after about 3/4 hour) where there is a lovely tea room and toilets. We should be back at Oldstead by about 1:30 so it is up to you whether you bring a packed lunch or not. After our recce last week, Les and I drove back via the near-by glider station and called in for coffee and a pannini. It was very nice and reasonably priced (cheap!) and the views over the Vale of York were superb. They also do sandwiches, chips, burgers etc..
The walk is a mix of fields and forest, some steep bits but nothing too taxing! It may well be wet underfoot but not too muddy hopefully.
Hope to see some of you there.
Margie and Les
